What is back facial?

A back facial follows the same logic as a face facial — cleanse, exfoliate, treat, mask, hydrate — on the large area of skin between your shoulders and lower back. That skin has more oil glands than almost anywhere else, gets trapped under clothes and straps, and is nearly impossible to exfoliate yourself.

MK Elegance Studio's version, listed on the old site as Body Polishing, focuses on exfoliation and purification to clear rough patches and congestion, then restores hydration so the skin looks even and soft.

How MK Elegance Studio keeps things clean →

Does a back facial help with back acne?

It helps with congestion, blackheads and the occasional breakout by exfoliating and deep-cleaning skin you can't reach, and many clients see a smoother back after one session. For persistent, painful or cystic acne, a doctor or dermatologist should be your first stop; a back facial then supports treatment rather than replacing it.

How far before an event should I book a back facial?

About one week before. That gives any redness from exfoliation time to settle and lets the skin look its smoothest on the day. If you're also waxing your back, wax first and leave at least 48 hours before the facial, or book the facial first and wax a few days later.

Does a back facial hurt?

No. Exfoliation may tingle and congested spots can feel tender while they're cleared, but most of the hour is relaxing — the mask and shoulder massage are the parts clients rave about. If an area is sore or sensitive, tell us and we'll work around it.

How often should I get a back facial?

For congestion and breakouts, once a month for two or three months, then every 6–8 weeks to maintain. For an event, one session about a week before is enough. Between visits, exfoliate gently twice a week and change out of sweaty gym clothes quickly — it makes the biggest difference to back skin.

What should I wear to a back facial?

Anything with a top that comes off easily. You'll remove your top and lie face-down, covered from the waist; bra straps are unhooked so the whole back can be treated. Skin may feel nourished afterwards, so a loose, clean top is better than a tight one for the trip home.

How do you keep a back facial hygienic?

The back is cleansed thoroughly before exfoliation or extractions, tools are sanitised between clients, and the treatment is one-to-one in a private room. Active breakouts are worked around rather than over, and the skin is soothed before you dress. Ask if you’d like to see how anything is prepared.
