What is threading?
Threading is hair removal with a single strand of 100% cotton thread, doubled and twisted. As the twist rolls across the skin it catches short rows of hair and lifts them out from the root — the same result as tweezing, but a whole line at a time and far more precisely.
Because nothing is applied to the skin and nothing is pulled across its surface, threading is the method we reach for on sensitive, reactive or retinoid-treated skin, and on brows where a millimetre either way changes the whole face. Before your appointment
- Come with a clean face around the brows — no heavy foundation, brow gel or pomade
- Let the hair grow for 2–3 weeks if you've been tweezing, so there's something to shape
- Skip exfoliating acids, scrubs and retinol on the area the night before
- Bring a photo if you want a particular brow shape
Aftercare
- Don't touch or pick the area for a few hours — fingers carry bacteria into open follicles
- Skip makeup, steam rooms, saunas and hot yoga for 12–24 hours
- No exfoliants, retinol or acids on the area for 24 hours
- Apply SPF the next morning; freshly threaded skin is a little more sun-sensitive

RefineStray hairs are tweezed and the brows are trimmed if long hairs sit above the line.

Does eyebrow threading hurt?
It stings rather than hurts — most clients compare it to a fast series of tweezes, strongest on the first visit and on the upper lip. Brow threading at MK Elegance Studio takes about 10 minutes, Mital holds the skin taut to blunt the sensation, and regulars say it gets easier each time as regrowth becomes finer. If you need a pause, say so; we stop instantly.
How long does threading last?
Brows usually stay clean for 2–4 weeks; upper lip and chin for 2–3 weeks. Because the hair comes out from the root, regrowth is slower than shaving and grows back soft-tipped rather than blunt. Booking every 3 weeks keeps the shape crisp and stops you needing to tweeze in between, which is what usually throws the arch off.
Can I get threaded if I have acne-prone skin?
Yes — threading is usually the kindest option for breakout-prone skin because there's no wax heat and no strip lifting the top layer. We thread around active pustules, never over them, and finish with a soothing gel. If you're on a prescription retinoid or benzoyl peroxide, tell us; we'll keep passes lighter. Clients on isotretinoin (Accutane) are assessed on the day.
Is threading or waxing better for my eyebrows?
For shape, threading. The thread removes a row at a time, so Mital can follow the arch hair by hair, and nothing is pulled across the eyelid skin. Waxing ($17.74) is quicker for very dense brows and some clients prefer it, but on sensitive, thin or retinol-treated skin threading ($15.95) causes less redness and no risk of lifting skin.
Do you use a new thread for every client?
Always. Cotton thread is single-use by nature — every client gets a freshly cut length, and it goes in the bin the moment you leave the chair. Tweezers and scissors are sanitised between clients, and the area is cleansed before we start and soothed after. If you have a hygiene question on the day, ask; we're happy to show you.
What is the First-Time Elegance Full Face session?
It's our full-face threading booked specifically for people who have never been threaded anywhere: $48.88 instead of $54.85, with extra time built in to explain each area, go slowly and take breaks. Can you fix brows I over-plucked?
Usually, but it takes patience. We'll thread only the clear strays and leave everything near your ideal line to grow for 4–6 weeks, then shape properly. A brow tint ($29.85) makes the in-between stage look fuller. If gaps are permanent, brow lamination is a better next step than more removal.
Is eyebrow threading more hygienic than waxing?
Threading has a natural hygiene advantage: the only thing that touches your skin is a freshly cut cotton thread that's used once and thrown away, so nothing is shared between clients. At MK Elegance Studio the tweezers and scissors used to tidy strays are sanitised between clients, and your skin is cleansed before and soothed after.
