What is lash lift & tint?

A lash lift is a semi-permanent curl for the lashes you already have. Each lash is combed up over a soft silicone rod that matches your eye shape, a lifting lotion relaxes the hair so it takes the curve, and a setting lotion fixes it. A tint then darkens the pale tips that mascara usually has to find.

Unlike extensions there's nothing glued on, nothing to fill and no lash loss when they shed — your lashes simply grow out with the curl over 6–8 weeks.

Ideal for

  • Straight or downward-pointing lashes that won't hold a curl
  • Fair or blonde lashes that disappear without mascara
  • Glasses-wearers whose lashes brush the lenses
  • Anyone tired of curlers, or who can't wear extensions

Not suitable if

  • Eye infections, styes, conjunctivitis, or very watery or sensitive eyes
  • Eye surgery (including LASIK) in the last 3–6 months — ask your surgeon
  • Lash extensions still attached
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding — hormones can stop the lift taking evenly; most clients wait
  • A known allergy to lash tint or hair dye

Before your appointment

  • Arrive with no eye makeup and no contact lenses (bring your case and glasses)
  • Remove any lash extensions completely beforehand
  • Don't use a lash curler or oily eye products on the day
  • Plan to keep lashes dry for 24 hours — book workouts and swims around it

Aftercare

  • Keep lashes dry for 24 hours: no water, steam, sauna, swimming or sweaty workouts
  • No mascara, eye makeup or oil-based removers for 24 hours
  • Don't rub your eyes or sleep face-down on the first night
  • Brush lashes upward each morning; a lash conditioning serum helps after 48 hours
  • Skip the lash curler entirely — it can kink lifted lashes

How MK Elegance Studio keeps things clean →

How long do I have to keep my lashes dry after a lash lift?

24 hours. The setting lotion keeps working on the hair bonds for about a day, so water, steam or sweat in that window can relax the curl. That means no face washing over the eyes, no showers aimed at your face, no sauna, swimming or hot yoga until the next day. After 24 hours you can wear mascara and live normally.

Does a lash lift hurt?

No. Your eyes stay closed for the whole hour and most clients relax or doze. You may feel the shield on your lid and a cool sensation from the lotions. If any stinging starts, tell us immediately — it usually means a little solution is near the lash line and we'll wipe it away.

How long does a lash lift last?

6–8 weeks, which is roughly one full lash growth cycle. The lift doesn't drop; instead, curled lashes shed and new straight ones grow in. We recommend leaving at least 6 weeks between lifts so the hair isn't over-processed.

Can I get a lash lift if I wear contact lenses?

Yes, but take them out before the treatment and leave them out for a few hours afterwards. Bring your lens case and glasses. Your eyes are closed throughout, but lenses trap any vapour from the lotions against your eye, which is uncomfortable and avoidable.

Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?

Yes, after 24 hours. Many clients stop wearing it because the tint and curl already do the job. If you do, choose a non-waterproof mascara — waterproof formulas need oil-based removers and rubbing, which relax the curl. Never use a lash curler on lifted lashes; it can crimp them.

How do you keep a lash lift clean and safe for my eyes?

Lashes are cleansed of oil and makeup before anything is applied, your lower lashes are protected, and the tools are sanitised between clients at MK Elegance Studio. Lotions stay on the lashes, away from the eye itself, and if you feel any stinging we remove it immediately. Come without eye makeup or contact lenses so we start with a clean eye area.
