What are facials?

A professional facial is a structured skin treatment, not just a massage with cream: double cleansing, exfoliation, targeted actives, massage, a mask and protection, chosen for what your skin is doing right now. The difference from home care is the strength of the professional formulas and the hands-on assessment.

MK Elegance Studio works with two professional lines. Diego dalla Palma's RVB Skinlab is an Italian line (Made in Italy, cruelty-free, Ecocert certified, dermo-tested at Italian universities) built around the 51+3 Hyalu Complex; its five rituals target hydration, ageing, sensitivity, breakouts and pollution-dulled skin. NaturMed is a botanical, pH-respecting line with six protocol facials mapped to skin type. The Express Glow is a focused 30-minute reset in seven steps: a skin assessment, then cleanse, steam, exfoliation, massage, serum and SPF.

Ideal for

  • Dehydrated, dull or tired skin — Hydra Plump Ritual or Nourishing Bloom
  • Fine lines and loss of firmness — Iconic Timeless Ritual or Radiant Renewal
  • Redness, rosacea-prone or reactive skin — Serenita Dolcezza Ritual or Soothing Harmony
  • Oily, congested or breakout-prone skin — Pure Equilibrio Ritual or Clarifying Purity
  • City-stressed, grey-looking skin — Cell Detoxium Ritual
  • A first facial or a lunch-hour reset — The Express Glow ($45, 30 min)
  • Men — every facial is available to men; see our Men page

Not suitable if

  • Active cold sores, open wounds, or a skin infection on the face
  • Sunburn, or a chemical peel, laser or microneedling in the last 7–14 days
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) — tell us; exfoliation and extractions are left out
  • Pregnancy: tell us — Serenita Dolcezza is the ritual Jane lists as suitable for expecting mothers

Before your appointment

  • Arrive makeup-free if you can (we'll cleanse either way)
  • Pause retinol and exfoliating acids 2–3 days before
  • Don't wax or thread the face on the same day — book threading after, not before
  • Bring a list of what you use at home; it shapes the homecare advice

Aftercare

  • Leave skin bare of makeup for the rest of the day if you can
  • Skip retinol, acids and scrubs for 48 hours
  • SPF every morning — newly exfoliated skin burns faster
  • No sauna, steam or hot yoga for 24 hours
  • Book the next facial in 4–6 weeks, one skin-renewal cycle

  3. ExfoliateEnzymes or acids are chosen for your skin — enzyme-only for sensitive skin.

  4. Treat & massageTargeted serums are worked in with a lifting facial, neck and shoulder massage.

  5. Mask & protectA ritual-specific mask, then moisturiser and SPF so you can go straight back out.

How MK Elegance Studio keeps things clean →

Which facial should I book if I've never had one?

If you want a taste, The Express Glow ($45, 30 minutes) shows you what a professional cleanse, exfoliation and massage feel like. If you have a clear concern — dryness, redness, breakouts — book the 60-minute NaturMed facial for that skin type ($84), or take the Skin Quiz to match a Diego dalla Palma ritual. We assess your skin on the day and can adjust.

What's the difference between the DDP rituals and the NaturMed facials?

Diego dalla Palma's RVB Skinlab rituals ($158.98–$194) use concentrated Italian professional actives — triple hyaluronic acid, Golden Collagenine, salicylic and azelaic acid — for a stronger, targeted result. NaturMed facials ($84–$129) are botanical, aromatherapy-led and pH-preserving, ideal for maintenance or skin that dislikes strong actives. Both are 60 minutes; Iconic Timeless is 75.

How often should I get a facial?

Every 4–6 weeks is ideal, because that's about how long skin takes to renew its surface layer. A single facial gives an immediate glow; a series of three to four, a month apart, is where texture, congestion and dehydration genuinely change. Between visits, the homecare products listed for your ritual keep results going.

Can I wear makeup after a facial?

You can, but try to leave your skin bare until the evening. Pores are clean and actives are still absorbing, so heavy foundation can clog and dull the result. If you're going back to work, a mineral SPF or tinted SPF is the best option. We finish every facial with protection so you can walk straight out onto King Street.

Do your facials include extractions?

When your skin needs them. The Pure Equilibrio Ritual includes steam and gentle extraction as part of its protocol, and the Express Glow uses steam to soften congestion. On sensitive, rosacea-prone or retinoid-treated skin we skip extractions entirely — squeezing reactive skin causes more redness than it clears.

Is the facial room cleaned between clients?

Yes. At MK Elegance Studio tools and surfaces are sanitised between every client, your skin is cleansed before any product is applied, and facials happen one-to-one in a private room on Floor 1 inside the Luna Aesthetics clinic. If you have a question about how something is prepared for your facial, ask on the day — we'll show you.
